THE SECRETS BEHIND THE DRESSES (Second Part)
“(…) In the second part of this work in progress, I incorporated archive photographs under the premise of using only photographs taken up to the year 2000. I have made this temporal selection because photography and also the vision of the world began to change as well as images with the influence of technology and social media that began to appear on the scene after 2000.
In this particular case, I made a call for entries via Instagram where people sent me their photos. After this call for entries ended, I also incorporated some family photographs that I found.
From a much more archetypal construction of gender, the dress is presented in women’s memories in a more introspective and subjective way due to the emotional and social charge it carries or represents, which is also inscribed in the dresses and which generates emotional bonds.
(…) In this case, intervening these images with texts was in itself a symbolic operation, where the word also operated as a ritual.”
